Кожного року протягом серпня земляни можуть спостерігати за дивовижним явищем – метеоричним потоком Персеїди. У 2019 пік зорепаду припав на ніч із 12 на 13 серпня.
Цього року початок метеоритного потоку припав на 2-4 серпня, а досяг свого піку 12 і 13 серпня.
Якщо у це період небо було безхмарним – зорепад Персеїди можна було побачити практично усюди, в тому числі в Україні.
Щоправда цьогорічний метеоритний дощ був не надто щільним. У NASA прогнозували падіння 60 до 70 метеорів за годину. При цьому минулі роки їх падало приблизно 200 щогодини.

Perseids meteor shower at Chard Reservoir last night. Despite the moonlight and partial cloud cover I decided to go down to my usual spot and shoot a time-lapse of the night sky hoping to catch some meteors. I aimed the camera northeast, which is the direction of the Perseus constellation, where they tend to appear from, hence the name. I shot from about midnight to roughly 3am. Out of 365 back-to-back images I managed to capture 6 meteors. I double-checked that they were meteors and not planes or satellites (the best way to do this is to see if they appear in the frames immediately before and after, and if they don't then it's fair to assume they are in fact meteors, especially when you see the general direction they are moving in). This image is a composite of the 6 images that the meteors appeared in, so where you see them in this image is exactly where they were captured in each of their respective photos, hope that makes sense! The moonlight brightened the sky, which helped make the image look good, but at the expense of seeing more meteors, as we did last year. Що таке зорепад Персеїди? Це метеорний потік, який можна спостерігати щороку наприкінці літа. Це відбувається, коли Земля проходить через шлейф комети Свіфта-Туттля. Частинки, які залишає за собою комета, згорають в нашій атмосфері та залишають цей світловий ефект.
